Ex- Arsenal Player Thomas Partey Denies Rape Charges
Former footballer Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty to raping multiple complainants and sexually assaulting a additional complainant.
The international midfielder entered denials to five counts of rape and an additional count of sexual assault when he appeared at Southwark Crown Court.
The reported offences were said to have happened between 2021 and 2022, when the professional athlete regularly played in the Premier League. He was formally accused four days after leaving the north London club, following the conclusion of his playing agreement at the summer period.
Mr Partey was granted bail until his court case, which is due to start at the same court on 2 November the following year.
He verbally acknowledged his name before pleading not guilty to every accusation leveled at him.
The professional player, who currently represents La Liga club Villareal, was present in the UK as his current club played Spurs in the Champions League on this week. He was substituted as a substitute in what resulted in a narrow defeat for his team.
The terms of his release do not prevent Mr Partey from continuing his professional career, but he must inform authorities of any international travel one day in advance and must not contact the alleged victims.
