One teenage boy was found dead just days after being falsely accused of taking the ashes of a dead infant during a break-in, an inquest has learned.

Tragic Discovery

The young boy's mother and father discovered his body in his room at his Flintshire residence on 19 November 2021.

Untrue Allegations Begin

The investigation heard how his parent received a message on 8 November 2021 via online platforms, from a individual inquiring if her son was her offspring. The communication added: "Inform him thanks for burgling my flat."

In a testimony presented to the court, the mother said the woman had been in the news, asserting her infant's ashes had been taken in a burglary - a allegation which was untrue.

Police Investigation

An investigation report from police later concluded the supposed break-in victim had "lied to police" and "it now appears that said items was never stolen in the beginning".

News coverage about the supposed taken remains generated online comments, and although Kai was not named in the messages, his mother said individuals "knew it was him".

The "social media content were extremely distressing", she stated.

Emotional Health Effect

She added that her son had been diagnosed with moderate attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that condition, other individuals' opinions really were important to him.

"It would have affected him severely," she said, "particularly when this was untrue".

The teenager was arrested at his residence, but no evidence was discovered. He was taken to a police station and later freed pending further inquiry.

Authorities said they would be in contact, the inquest learned, but had not contacted the family by the moment of his death.

Withdrawal and Worry

His mother said her son "became isolated" after the detention and "would keep asking me whether I had heard anything from the police", because his condition meant sometimes "certain periods could feel like days".

When she talked to him about the alleged burglary, she said her child told her he had gone into the house because the resident who resided there had said he could use the toilet whenever he needed, but refuted taking anything.

Online Bullying

In a combined testimony between her and her husband, the mother said her son was being bullied digitally after the accusations.

The proceedings learned that a 19-year-old urged Kai to end his life.

She had no concerns on the evening before he passed away, explaining how she had heard him "chuckling and teasing".

She portrayed him as a "caring, affectionate" boy, and said her "relatives is totally shattered".

He had been "obviously hiding his worries", she stated, adding that he could not bear to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him".

Educational Reaction

The inquest received testimony from educational staff at the local High School.

On November 8th, she "overheard some boys talking that the student had been arrested and that was the initial I learned".

"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she added.

After the discussion, the staff member said she called the family's family telephone and left a voicemail saying she had communicated to the student about the accusations.

The proceedings learned his family said they never got that message.

Official Conclusion

Senior coroner told the hearing he would wait for documents regarding what improvements had been made to handling suspects with the condition, before determining whether he should make a prevention of future deaths report.

Delivering a descriptive conclusion, he stated: "Around 8 November 2021, unsubstantiated accusations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old individual.

"Likely untruths were afterwards embellished and amplified through the platform of social media.

"During November 11th, he was questioned by the authorities and following his questioning he was released whilst inquiries continued."

The official concluded: "Exists no proof that the actions or failures of any agency led to or added to his passing and although it was the outcome of a self-inflicted action it is impossible to determine his purpose."
